AUPresses Data Programs

AUPresses Operating Statistics
The annual AUPresses Operating Statistics report provides a thorough compilation, analysis, and comparison of university press operating data for the previous four years. Members Only.

Quarterly Sales and Returns
Conducted since FY03-04, the quarterly sales survey keeps a finger on the pulse of publishing in our community. Members Only.

Press Reporting Structures
A biennial survey that keeps track of where member presses report within their home institution. Members Only.

AUPresses Topical Surveys

Digital Book Publishing
A regular survey that looks at the extent to which certain digital publishing strategies are being adopted by AUPresses members, and canvasses the community's views on various digital publishing issues and concerns. 2019 Report now available. Public.

Journals Publishing Survey
The Association's Journals Committee undertook a new survey in Fall 2018 to collect information on members' journal operations and professional development needs. The Committee reviewed and summarized the results in a white paper released in April 2019. This Journals Committee Survey White Paper is available to the public. Library-Press Collaboration Survey
Summary survey data from 42 ARL libraries and 41 AAUP presses, plus extensive interviews with library and press directors on developing and sustaining collaborative scholarly communications projects on campus. Public.

The 2008 AAUP Marketing Committee surveyed academic librarians' responses to publishers' marketing
