Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Editorial Design, and Production Manager (EDP Manager) or a Project Coordinator for the University of Nevada Press.

Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator will assist with the planning and scheduling of printing and book delivery for all new and reprinted books at the University of Nevada Press (UNP). The position will ensure scheduled deadlines are met, prepare cost estimates and purchase orders, and serve as the liaison between authors, copy editors, designers, printers, and press staff. The Project Coordinator will prepare typesetting and printing specification templates, review all printed proofs, and approve for release. Other duties may include helping with the preparation of seasonal catalogs, manage web-ready and e-pub conversions to ensure timely completion, and preparing cost estimates and cast-offs to estimate book length.

EDP Manager

The EDP Manager plans and oversees the editing, design, composition, printing, binding, and delivery of all print and electronic books published by the University of Nevada Press. Other duties include, but are not limited to, being responsible for editing, design decisions, and oversight of freelance editors and designers, and the production of final files for print and e-books; serving as the liaison between authors and staff; ensuring editorial and design standards, adhering to production schedules, and managing projects within the allocated budget for approximately 20 titles per year; researching and implementing new technologies; and providing administrative support for the University of Nevada Press, which includes budgeting, implementing strategic initiatives, and managing contracts.

Required Qualifications

Project Coordinator

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of related work experience OR Master's Degree with one (1) year of related work experience.

Related work experience: Book design and typography, copy editing

EDP Manager

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with two (2) years of related work experience and three (3) years of project management experience OR Master's Degree with one (1) year of related work experience and two (2) years of project management experience.

Related work experience: Book design and typography, copy editing

Compensation Grade

Project Coordinator - Grade A

EDP Manager - Grade B

Candidates will be hired at the level that is comparable to their experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
