Editorial Program
As the scholarly publishing arm of the University of Alabama, the Press serves as an agent in the advancement of learning and the dissemination of scholarship. The Press applies the highest standards to all phases of publishing including acquisitions, editorial, production, and marketing. An editorial board comprised of representatives from five doctoral-degree-granting public universities within Alabama oversees the publishing program. Projects are selected that support, extend, and preserve academic research. The Press also publishes books that foster an understanding of the history and culture of this state and region. Areas of publication include: US and Southern History; Natural History; History of Science, Technology, Agriculture, and Medicine; Military History; African American Studies; American Religious History; Judaic Studies and Holocaust Studies, Anthropology and archaeology, Latin American and Caribbean studies; Native American studies and ethnohistory; food studies and foodways; Folklore; Literary Criticism; Rhetoric and Communication Studies; Creative Nonfiction and Memoir; Theatre; Sports Studies; Southern Art, Music, Literature, and Culture
