AUPresses 2027 Virtual Annual Meeting: Call for Proposals

How do we navigate the current terrain of scholarly publishing with integrity and strength? Presses rely on you, the people who power it, to answer this question every day. We welcome your ideas, questions, and brainstorms for how to take up both ever-shifting issues and perennial growth areas. Please contribute to the 2027 Virtual Annual Meeting program, held June 7 to 10, 2027, by submitting a session proposal.

Proposal submissions are due Friday, November 13.

Co-chaired by Kerry Webb (University of Texas Press) and Gianna Mosser (Vanderbilt University Press), the 2027 Program Committee is eager to embrace the opportunities presented by a virtual meeting for lively collaboration, and to make it even easier for all members of the AUPresses community to meaningfully participate in a variety of ways. We welcome all ideas and all members for our vast and extended community to engage!

Considerations for planning sessions:

A multiplicity of voices is critical to a successful meeting that serves a wide array of constituencies, which means the Program Committee needs active guidance and participation to achieve its demographic and thematic goals: planners will pay particular attention to participation by presses of different sizes, regions, and countries, specializing in books, journals, or both; publishers outside of the traditional university environment; and speakers and facilitators from different departments, career levels, and other backgrounds. AUPresses welcomes proposals from members, non-members, sponsors, vendors, and partners.

A key focus of the Program Committee is removing obstacles to participation. If there are any doubts even after reading the material, please reach out to the chairs directly for help with ways to see an idea through.

Proposals should include a maximum of one moderator and three presenters. This is to facilitate strong presentations in a format restricted by sixty minutes of discussion and fifteen minutes of Q&A.

View descriptions of the traditional types of sessions taking place at AUPresses 2027. Planners are open to new approaches, particularly given this year’s remote format.
