The AUPresses Faculty Outreach Committee has been developing tools to promote university press publishing and to help build relationships between presses and authors (as well as journal editors, book series editors, and others). This hangout will present AskUP (ask.up.hcommons.org), a site that answers questions about all aspects of the publishing process, from book acquisitions and journal programs to rights and permissions, production, and marketing.
Launched in Fall 2020, AskUP features answers from a different “host press” each season. We will hear from representatives from the first three host presses and learn about how the AUPresses community can help promote AskUP and get involved in its future. In addition, the committee has been working to facilitate presentations about publishing with UPs.
The hangout will also highlight a template for “how to get published” presentations, created by the committee and available to all AUPresses members, and discuss the committee’s outreach to learned societies to organize panels about university press publishing at their annual meetings.
