Editorial Program
Hong Kong University Press, established in 1956, is a leading academic publisher based at the University of Hong Kong. We publish up to 30 new titles annually and maintain a backlist of over 1,000 books, with strengths in Asian studies, cultural studies, film and media studies, Chinese history and culture, law, and more. Most works are in English, complemented by a distinguished multilingual program in Chinese and other languages. All manuscripts are subject to rigorous, anonymous peer review overseen by our Editorial Board, which is comprised of leading scholars from the University of Hong Kong. This ensures the highest academic standards and supports our mission to disseminate outstanding scholarship to both global and local audiences—including works that advance learning among Hong Kong’s professionals and students. Our diverse author base spans North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, reflecting our commitment to publishing research of regional and international significance across the humanities, social sciences, and professional fields.
