Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts
Editorial Program
The National Gallery of Art has one of the largest and most active museum publishing departments in the nation. Established in 1940 before the museum opened, the program acts as a bridge between the National Gallery’s research, collection, and the public. Titles include exhibition books, collection highlights, and research from the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts. Our publishing areas are the visual arts for academic and general audiences, including but not limited to conservation, contemporary art, drawings, paintings, photography, prints, and sculpture. Collection research is available for free on nga.gov, including in the biennial OA conservation journal Facture, and select titles from the Center imprint are released in simultaneous print and OA editions. Active series include Art &, Seminar Papers, and Selected Works. The program also supports the development of interpretive and educational materials, press, marketing, and development collateral, digital content and more to advance the museum’s mission.

Vi stödjer ett globalt nätverk av förläggare vars syfte är att säkerställa akademisk kompetens och främja kunskap.
