The Annual Meeting Program Committee, chaired by Louisiana State University Press’s Alisa Plant, focused on the possibilities of a renewed sense of inclusiveness and collaboration in scholarly publishing. Program highlights include an opening night address by New Orleans writer and Loyola’s Robert Hunter Distinguished University Professor, John Biguenet; a kickoff plenary on new models of open access; concurrent sessions devoted to evolving editorial lists, experimental digital formats, the latest in metadata, press-press and press-library collaborations, and much more.

The meeting also features four pre-meeting, skill-building workshops on open textbooks, marketing, ebooks, and journals; opportunities to meet with more than 40 exhibiting service providers; and receptions and other gatherings for networking and conversation. The 2014 AAUP Book, Jacket, and Journal Show debuts in New Orleans: entries are on display for the first time at the Marriott. Members of the show jury will discuss their selection process and decisions on June 23.

Philip Cercone, Director of McGill-Queen’s University Press, will deliver his valedictory address as 2013-14 AAUP President on June 23. Incoming 2014-15 AAUP President and Director of National Academies Press Barbara Kline Pope will begin her tenure by facilitating the interactive “Reimagining the AAUP” plenary session on June 24.
