Continuing our commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive community, AUPresses engaged the Racial Equity institute (REI) for a virtual session of its introductory Groundwater Workshop. Press Directors and Association committee members were invited to attend the training sessions, which were held on November 16 and 17.
To move conversation and action forward, the AUPresses Equity, Justice, and Inclusion Committee is launching a series of virtual hangouts for Press Directors: Activating Directors in EJI Work. The first session in the series will focus on debriefing the REI/Groundwater training, which used stories and data to present a perspective that racism is fundamentally structural in nature and to examine characteristics of modern-day racial inequity that introduces participants to an analysis that aims to grow equity within organizations.
