Considering early career folks as well as more experienced practitioners interested in learning about new and emerging fields of study, the AUPresses Intellectual Property and Copyright Committee has identified a need for routine discussions about fair use and permissions questions. This hangout will provide a discussion of best practices for including third-party materials in scholarly publications while mitigating risks of fair use. The panelists all deal with issues of fair use for their own institutions, whether it be providing guidance to scholars and authors or helping make in-house decisions.
The conversation will be open-ended and we will welcome questions from the UP community, but ultimately, there will be some “it depends” situations.
