AUPresses joins the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) in affirming our support for diversity at all levels of higher education, following last month’s decision from the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) that deemed race-conscious college admissions programs unlawful.
As a global community of publishers, we hold diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value, essential to the cultivation of knowledge across the breadth of the human experience. We agree with the ACLS that the participation of diverse people in the scholarly enterprise is “the best way—the proven way—to redeem past erasures in scholarship by exploring new issues and areas.”
