Hosted by the Editorial, Design & Production Committee
Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping publishing as a practical tool already influencing editorial workflows, creative design, and production strategies. Join us in exploring how AI is being used in various areas of EDP and its opportunities and challenges.
Some topics we hope to discuss include (but are not limited to):
- Automation: Are you using AI to perform preproduction processes, such as software that says what level of copyediting an article might need? What successes or failures might you be experiencing with language or styles tagging? If you’re using AI to generate alt text, what are you using and how?
- Design: Have your procedures for cover development or typesetting changed with the advent of AI?
- Fears: How are you assuaging fears or concerns about quality control? Are staff worried about AI usurping jobs?
- Legality: Is the inputted data going to be reused by the supplier of the AI software? What copyright risks are there
- Policies: What policy or best practice documents have you developed for your department around AI use?
Participants will have the chance to discuss all the above and share insights from their own experiences with fellow association members.
