The Association of University Presses notes with pleasure the announcement of the EvenUP initiative by 17 UK and Irish university presses, demonstrating these mission-driven publishers’ commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI). EvenUP will provide a geographically specific forum for EDI information collection, benchmarking, and training, with the goal of developing and sharing best practices for the recruitment and retention of university press publishers and authors from under-represented groups.
“Increasing equity, diversity, and inclusion in scholarly publishing is of paramount importance because it is essential to the continued increase and advancement of knowledge,” says AUPresses executive director Peter Berkery. “AUPresses members worldwide stand ready to support and learn from this dedicated group of publishers as we all proceed in this much-needed work.”
